Camping & Accommodations Questions

Is camping included in my registration?
A non-assigned TENTING site is included with each registration. These are first-come-first-serve in a ballpark field. Please note that you cannot use tent pegs due to the in-ground sprinkler system, nor can you have a wood-burning fire pit at your tent.

Can I upgrade to an RV/Campervan/Trainer Site?
YES! RV/CamperVan/Trailer sites are booked by reservation only for $25/site (you’ll see this option as you go through the registration form). Please note that these sell out FAST so don’t wait to reserve your site!

How many RV Sites are available?
We have the following sites available in each location. Please click here to see site maps.

  • 21 RockAbout Sites (Large units only (anything above 30’) - site size 15' x 40')

  • 27 Soccer Spot Sites (Units 30’ & under only – site size 12' x 35')

  • 9 Quentin Sites (Units 30’ & under only – site size 12' x 35')

  • 10 Kobe's Sites (Camper/Sprinter Van’s & Rooftop Tents Only! - due to small site size)

Is there a size limit on the type of unit I bring?
YES! Please see sites sizes above If you book a site that is too small for your unit size, you may be asked to move somewhere else as the sites are laid out according to lot size.

How many sites can be booked?
Each rider can book a maximum of 1 RV site.

How many nights are included in camping?
Two – Friday & Saturday nights are included.

Can we arrive early and/or stay late?
No, unfortunately not. We only have the Friday & Saturday nights booked in our permit.

Once the RV sites sell out, is there a waitlist?
NO. Once the sites are sold out we do not run a waitlist as it is very rare that someone will cancel and their site will become available.

Can I park my Sprinter Van/CamperVan/Rooftop Tent where the tents are?
NO. If you have one of these types of units you MUST purchase an RV camping spot.

Can I sleep in my Sprinter Van/CamperVan/Rooftop Tent in the parking lot?
NO. Due to insurance/liability reasons, it is illegal to sleep in your vehicle in the parking lot at the event site. You must either purchase an RV Camping Site or sleep in a tent in the ballpark field.

Once the sites sell out, do you have another recommendation on where to camp?
Yes, we suggest you book a site at the Golden Municipal Campground which is just down the hill from the event site. Their website can be found here: www.goldenmunicipalcampground.com

Are there bathroom/shower/water/cooking facilities on-site?
We will have port-o-potties available throughout the event site. Potable water can be found at the bike wash station (please bring your own jug to fill from the waterspout). There is a medium size covered shelter available to cook under if needed (however you need to bring all your own cooking supplies including stoves, etc). Unfortunately, we do not have shower facilities on-site however there is a community rec center just down the hill from the race where you can pay a drop-in fee to use the shower there.

Can I have a fire at my campsite?
Wood-burning fires are not allowed on-site, however you’re more than welcome to use a propane fire-bowl.

Do you have any hotel partners?
We don’t, however Golden has great hotels throughout the town. You can find more information here: www.tourismgolden.com

Course / Route Questions

Where can I find the course description, profile & GPX file?
You can find a full/detailed description along with a downloadable GPX file on our website here

Is it possible to ride the route before the race?
Yep, we usually have the course marked on Thursday afternoon. Note that there may be last-minute changes due to trail conditions, permits, or other factors.

How many aid stations are on course and what’s available at them?
We plan on having one water station on course where only plain water will be available.

Meal Questions

Are any meals included with my registration? No, however we will have a food truck & a coffee truck on-site for the duration of the event.

Gear/Bikes/Tech Questions

What sort of bike should I use for the event? All riders must have an appropriate bike for intermediate singletrack riding in mountainous terrain. A trail-worthy mountain bike (full suspension recommended) is a must for this event. Just about any mountain bike will do (from a XC race sled to a full enduro rig), but most people will be happiest on a mid-travel trail bike. Riders are responsible for ensuring that their bikes are in good working order.

** E-bikes are not permitted **

Do I need any mandatory gear? A ANSI/CSA-approved bicycling helmet is required at all times while on course.

What recommended gear should riders carry?

  • Gloves (we suggest something waterproof and full finger)

  • 1 spare tube (per racer)

  • 1 tire pump (per team or racer)

  • 1 set of bike tools (per team or racer) size 4, 5, 6, Allen keys, tire levers & chain tool

  • Drinking water and a snack

Are their mechanic on-site? Yes, Mechanics will be available in the expo area should you have issues requiring additional support.

Team Questions

How many people do we need for a “Party Team”? Party teams can consist of 4-6 riders

What if we don’t have enough team members on our Party Team? You can still race as a 3 rider team, just know that you’ll be competing against teams that have 4-6 riders on it. If you only have 2 riders, you’ll need to chage your registration to a 2-person team category.

How do we change teammates? This can’t be done online so you’ll need to email the Race Office (registration@transrockies.com) with the first/last name & email address of the current rider, along with the first/last name & email address of the new rider. We’ll take care of it on the back end.

Can we change our team name and/or team captain? Yep - this can’t be done online though, so you’ll need to email the Race Office (registration@transrockies.com) to have this completed.

I’m a solo rider looking for a team to join, do you match people up? No, unfortunately we don’t have a system for matching solo’s with teams. Your best option is to post on our Facebook group asking if anyone needs a rider.
